Email sending limits

Set outgoing email limits per server: an hourly cap per domain and per mailbox, a maximum number of recipients per message, and what happens when a cap is passed. Spam hold, remote SMTP blocking and DKIM signing sit on the same screen, so a compromised account is stopped before your IP is blacklisted.

What it does.

A compromised mailbox or a hacked contact form shows up first as a spike in outgoing mail. With an hourly limit in place, the spam run stops before your server’s IP lands on a blacklist and every other customer’s mail starts bouncing. The “just notify” option lets you see who would be caught before you tighten the rule. Limits are set per server, so a machine with business customers doesn’t have to share a threshold with a shared hosting box.

  1. Hourly sending limits at two levels: per domain and per mailbox.

  2. The maximum number of recipients per message is set separately.

  3. You choose what happens when a limit is passed: queue the mail, block it or just notify.

  4. Spam hold, remote SMTP blocking and DKIM signing live on the same screen.

  5. The policy is per server; one rule isn’t forced on the whole fleet.
