Manage every cPanel server from one list
You run cPanel on more than one machine, so the day starts with a row of WHM tabs. ctapanel connects to each WHM on port 2087 with an API token and puts the servers in one list. You open accounts, adjust a reseller’s quota, read the Exim queue and clear a cPHulk block without logging in server by server. WHM stays where it is and keeps working.
How to manage multiple cPanel servers
Few cPanel shops stay on one server for long. A second box takes the overflow, a third carries the resellers, and a simple question like “which server is this customer on?” turns into opening WHM after WHM. ctapanel puts every cPanel/WHM server in the same list, next to any Plesk, DirectAdmin or panel-less machines you also run. Each server’s profile shows its load, disk, services and open alerts, and a panel version that has fallen behind the newest in your fleet gets flagged. cPanel server monitoring stops being a morning round of logins.
The work itself is the cPanel work you already know. You find an account by domain or username, open its detail in a side panel, then suspend it or change its package. You create databases with the user prefix cPanel requires. You move sites off an end-of-life PHP version the way MultiPHP Manager would, only across servers. Every change goes through the WHM API, so what you do here shows up in WHM too. The screens keep cPanel’s own terms: an account is an account and a reseller is a reseller.
ctapanel doesn’t replace cPanel. Your licence stays yours, WHM keeps working and its own interface is still there when you need it. Nor does it pretend cPanel can do what it can’t. cPanel has no panel support for .NET, so those servers show the reason instead of a button. Node.js depends on CloudLinux and shows as installable where it’s missing. The terminal is built for inspection, so package installs and file editing still happen over SSH. ctapanel is an independent product with no partnership with cPanel LLC.
Connect a cPanel server in three steps
You need the server’s IP address and a WHM API token. A root password is never asked for.
- Step 1 / 3
Create the API token in WHM
In WHM, create an API token and tick every privilege. ctapanel does more than read: it creates accounts, resets passwords and manages mail. WHM refuses each privilege you left out on its own.
- Step 2 / 3
Add the address and test it
Pick cPanel / WHM as the panel type, enter the IP address and paste the token. The port is 2087. Test the connection before you save, so a wrong token never leaves a half-finished server behind.
- Step 3 / 3
Wait for the first report
The server opens in maintenance with its counters at zero. The expected services (httpd, exim, dovecot, mysql and cpsrvd) are already set. Once the agent finishes its first lap, usually in a few minutes, real figures replace the zeros.
What you manage on cPanel / WHM
Every capability below is managed from the panel on cPanel servers, with one exception: .NET, which cPanel doesn’t support.
| Capability | On this panel | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Accounts | ||
| Account and package management | yes | Managed from the panel |
| Reseller management | yes | Managed from the panel |
| Account transfer and import | yes | Managed from the panel |
| Platform | ||
| DNS zone editor | yes | Managed from the panel |
| PHP version and settings | yes | The server default works like MultiPHP Manager and is inherited by new accounts. |
| Node.js and Python apps | yes | Runs through Application Manager (Passenger). Node.js shows as installed with CloudLinux and installable without it. |
| .NET apps | no | cPanel has no panel support for .NET, so cPanel servers show the reason and no action button. |
| Database management | yes | New databases carry the user prefix cPanel requires, and a name can’t be reused on the same server. |
| Mail queue and mailboxes | yes | Managed from the panel |
| SPF, DKIM and DMARC checks | yes | Managed from the panel |
| Security | ||
| Firewall rules | yes | Managed from the panel |
| Login protection thresholds | yes | Follows cPHulk: one set of thresholds instead of jails, covering sshd, cpaneld, whostmgrd and webmaild. |
| WAF (ModSecurity) state | yes | Shows ModSecurity with OWASP CRS, or Imunify360 where its service runs. State only; rule editing isn’t available yet. |
| Root access and SSH keys | yes | Managed from the panel |
| Operations | ||
| Service control (start/stop) | yes | Managed from the panel |
| Backup plans | yes | Managed from the panel |
| Terminal and command assistant | yes | Managed from the panel |
| Audit log | yes | Managed from the panel |

The cPanel screens to start with
- 01Details
cPanel account management
Search accounts by domain or username across every WHM. The detail opens beside the list with disk, mailboxes, databases and SSL. Suspend several accounts at once, or back one up from its backups tab. A new account with AutoSSL shows its certificate as pending. - 02Details
cPanel reseller control
Set each reseller’s permissions one switch at a time: create accounts, change package, edit quota, terminate, sub-resellers. A quota can’t drop below current usage. Suspend a reseller and their accounts follow; lifting it restores only those. - 03Details
Migrate accounts over port 2087
Take over customers from another cPanel host on the remote panel’s own port, with no SSH request to the other side. Each transfer follows a step plan, shows live progress and queues behind the one already running. - 04Details
PHP versions across WHM servers
Set the server default as you would in MultiPHP Manager, and new accounts inherit it. See how many sites sit on an end-of-life PHP branch on each server, then move them to a newer version in one pass. - 05Details
cPHulk blocks and thresholds
See failed logins and blocked IPs from cPHulk on every cPanel server. When a customer locks themselves out, unblock the IP and add it to the allow list in the same step, so the call doesn’t come back. - 06Details
cPanel hardening per server
The security centre lists cPanel’s own hardening switches for each server: compiler access, fork bomb protection, SMTP restriction and shell access. Findings close themselves once the condition is fixed, and the fleet score shows your weakest server.
cPanel management questions
Q.01How do I manage multiple cPanel servers from one place?
Connect each server with a WHM API token on port 2087. Every cPanel/WHM server then sits in one list with its accounts, services, mail queue and security state. You work in ctapanel instead of logging in to each WHM, and every change goes through that server’s own WHM API.
Q.02What privileges does the WHM API token need?
All of them. ctapanel doesn’t only read: it creates accounts, resets passwords and manages mail, and WHM refuses each missing privilege on its own. The token is stored encrypted, is never shown again after you save it, and you can revoke it from your own panel at any time. A root password is never asked for.
Q.03Does ctapanel replace WHM or my cPanel licence?
No. It sits on top of the cPanel you already run. Your licence stays yours and WHM keeps working. Anything you change in ctapanel shows up in WHM, because the work goes through the panel’s own API. ctapanel is an independent product with no partnership with cPanel LLC.
Q.04Can I migrate cPanel accounts from another host?
Yes. A remote panel transfer connects to the other cPanel server on port 2087, so you don’t have to ask the old host to open SSH. FTP and SSH are available as methods too. Progress, speed and time left update live, and a failed transfer can be requeued with the reason in the log.
Q.05Can I run Node.js or .NET apps on cPanel servers?
Node.js, yes. On cPanel it runs through Application Manager (Passenger) and depends on CloudLinux: with CloudLinux the server shows as installed, without it as installable. .NET, no. cPanel has no panel support for it, so those servers show the reason rather than an install button.
Running another panel too?
Most fleets mix panels. Each one connects in its own way and supports a slightly different set of screens.
